Do I need a referral?

A medical referral is not required to see a physiotherapist at City Physiotherapy unless it is for a Worker’s Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accident or a EPC Claim.

Does private health insurance cover my treatment?

This will depend on your insurance policy. Most ancillary (or extras) policies will cover part of the cost of physiotherapy treatment. Some of these policies will also cover therapeutic massage.

How much will I get back on my treatment?

The amount that you receive back from your health insurance provider will also depend on your insurance policy.

How long does an appointment take?

An initial physiotherapy consultation will generally take 30 – 45 minutes and every subsequent consultation will be approximately 15 – 30 minutes. Massage appointments generally last for 30 – 60 minutes, depending on your booking.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring any referral letters and relevant test results such as X-rays. If you have private health insurance please also bring your card as you can claim through our HICAPS system.

Should I book to see a physiotherapist or should I get a massage?

If you are injured or in pain, it is recommended that you see a physiotherapist first so that they can provide an assessment and diagnosis. From there, the physiotherapist can either suggest to continue treatment or refer you to massage.
